Nefeli Chadouli

2024 Associate Fellow

Nefeli Chadouli has been a Permanent Conductor at the Babylon Orchester Berlin since 2023, an orchestra specializing in accompanying silent movies. She is also a regular Guest Conductor of Sinfonia Leipzig since 2021. Currently she is finishing her master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Arts in Berlin.

Nefeli has collaborated with the Brandenburger Symphoniker, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Leipziger Symphonieorchester, Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra and Athens City Symphony Orchestra. In 2021 she was invited to the Musa Hellenica Festival, where she conducted works by contemporary composers. In 2014 she founded the Youth Orchestra “Periklis Koukos” at the National Conservatory of Greece, which she has been conducting until 2018.

Nefeli was born in Athens, Greece. She began her studies both in piano and violin. She obtained a diploma in piano from the National Conservatory of Greece with Grand Prix, Exceptional Performance Distinction and “Krino Kalomoiri Award”. Additionally, she completed an integrated master’s degree in Musicology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with Distinction, specializing in Historical and Systematic Musicology. In 2022 she completed a bachelor’s degree in conducting with distinction at the University of Music and Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Barthodly” in Leipzig.

Among her principal mentors are Steven Sloane, Harry Curtis, Matthias Foremny and Catherine Larsen-Maguire, with whom she has worked as an Assistant Conductor in both symphonic and operatic repertoire. Furthermore, she has attended conducting masterclasses with Johannes Schlaefli, Vittorio Parisi, Anna Skryleva, Sebastiano Rolli, Roger Benedict, Michalis Economou, Jonathan Brett, Basilio Astulez and Urlich Weder.
